About Lapplandsleden
Lapplandsleden is the newest long distance hike in the north of Sweden and opened in November 2021. It runs from Borgafjäll in the south to Hemavan in the north, where it connects to Kungsleden.

Hemavan
Atoklimpen

This section is a hike with massive views, amazing autumn colors and a lot of fishing opportunities if you are into that. The stretch between Hemavan and Atoklimpen is 42 kilometers long and will take you 2-3 days.
On this section you will see the high mountains all around you and you can even see the highest mountain in Northern Norway (Okstindan) with its several glacier capped peaks. There are many good camping spots along the way to rest and admire the views. Drinking water is available everywhere in the plenty of lakes and streams.

This section is starting at the unique landscape of Atoklimpen Cultural Reserve. Here, Lapplandsleden will be taking you over lonely ridges with far views. This section also includes several river crossings. Most rivers are bridged but you will be wading as well. It ends at beautiful Arevattnet, a giant lake nestled in between two mountain ridges.

On this section you will cross the highest point of the trail, which is also the highest point of any long distance trail in Sweden. This is the toughest section on the Lapplandsleden but probably also the most impressive one. Views reach far into Norway and chances are big you will run into reindeer here.

Åtnikken

- 1-2 day
During the section between Gränssjö and Åtnikken you will be surrounded by birchforest which beautifully colors the landscape in autumn. You may find some chantarellas along your way. A unique farmland lies here in the middle of nowhere at the foot of Vardofjäll. Follow Vojmåns beautiful streams and meanders until Åtnikken.

On strings of sand this section takes you along an former trading trail to Norway. In the distance, a sharkfin shape is rising in the mountains. The old cabin at Tjåkkele is probably the cosiest timber cabin on this trail.

Klimpfjäll

This section takes you inbetween high mountains and on big heaths. You will pass through the mighty valley of the Durrenpeak, the sharfin you have seen earlier. The old trade route you follow takes you to the village of Klimpfjäll.

Borgafjäll
- 39 KM
- 2-3 days
This is the section of open landscape. On this stretch you fully experience the wideness of the mountains with big mountain heaths stretching in all directions. East of Slipsikken the trail takes you through the landscape of thousand lakes. After this, you’ll end up in the old spruce forests at Borgafjäll, where Lapplandsleden comes to an end. Guided hike on Lapplandsleden
On this guided Lapplandsleden hike Andreas will meet you at Atoklimpen, just a 30-minute drive south of Hemavan. This is one of the easiest accessible alpine sections of the Lapplandsleden. Along the way, Andreas will tell you about the construction and development of the trail as well.
He’ll also explain how ancient transportations routes were linked with modern trails that are now used by hikers. Of course will happily answer any question you may have about trail making and hiking on Lapplandsleden.

Can I stay in cabins just like on Kungsleden?
No, you will need to bring a tent on Lapplandsleden. There are a few mountain huts with around 4 beds each, but they are first come, first serve. However, distances between them are long and so you’ll also need to camp along the way.
When should I hike Lapplandsleden?
How can I get to the start of Lapplandsleden?
